6 Weeks!!!

I'm trying not to freak out and have a panic attack, but there is a lot to get done in the next 6 weeks. At least my creative gears are working well under the pressure. I've been doing quite a bit of brainstorming for the rest of designs and the actual set-up of the space. Today I bought some good looking plants and took them out of their soil. Some...more like my apartment is beginning to look like a greenhouse and YES I said no soil; my Mom still thinks I'm crazy for taking plants out of their dirt. Guess she has never heard of hydroponic gardening. Not going to lie I'm still going to cross my fingers and hope that they don't all die in the next six weeks, but science tells me not to worry. On that note GROW BABY GROW 6 WEEKS TO GO!! The last image of a sunset I took last summer in EC may seem a little random, but I have set that image as my background on my work computer and laptop as motivation till the end, because when this is all over summer festivities and adventures will begin!! Back to work!

Sign & Exhibit

Here is a look at two different projects both for sign and exhibition class. One was to design a new directory for the art building at UW-Stout and for the second project we worked with The Eau Claire Children's Museum to design a new exhibit for their upstairs space. Here is what I proposed...

Learning a new language...

When I took Spanish in high school I always found it easier to speak it rather than write it. Same is true for JavaScript, CSS and HTML, I can pronounce those words/letters just fine, but writing it is a little harder. Much like anything else though it takes a good amount of practice. The past two weeks I have been working on a layout for our first major project in web design. We were each assigned a partner whom is acting like a client for each of us and we are putting together a one page portfolio site for them. Our first critique was Friday and aside from the many suggestions I was given here is a look at my layout. In about a week or so we will begin to do the markup of our sites.

The 10 Day Weekend...

I am not the least bit jealous while many of you are lying on a beach somewhere (o.k maybe just a little), but there is work to be done!  This to do list is certainly not going to check itself and while being somewhere other than the Midwest for spring break may spark tons of creativity, I would get many strange looks if I took my cutting board and exacto knife out to the beach. The most exciting thing for me this break is I will not have to look at an accounting textbook or an advertising textbook and what a relief that will be. I have packed up only the essentials; the tablet, iPod, Communication Arts magazines, sketchbooks, camera and computer. Oh and the tennis shoes and running gear to hopefully find time to get a jump start on training for upcoming runs including the Color Run, more to come on this at a later date, but I am super excited!!!  Two major events are right around the corner, Senior Show and AIGA MN's Portfolio One on One, both of which are going to take a good amount of time and creativity. With that said I am fully prepared for an awesome break, I have a portable hardrive in my back pocket (anticipating ANOTHER computer crash), ideas ready to be put into action and an eagerness to get started. Ready Set GO!

A Day for Layout

Some days just click better than others for designers and today was one of them for me! Super exciting when this happens if ya know what I mean! I have a HUGE to do list; good thing spring break on its way. I am beginning to think of new layouts for my portfolio with AIGA MN Portfolio 1 on 1 just around the corner and also layouts for book designs. More updates to come later this week hopefully.
