My recent climb of the 14er, Mt. Elbert in Colorado inspired me to create a badge to remind me of the accomplishments made on that amazing trip.

Team Inspiration Is Born at BancVue

A couple months ago my coworker, Jorge Madrigal and myself began to brainstorm ways we could bring our creative team closer, as well as ignite creativity and inspire everyone to inspire each other. We like to say "inspire you to inspire me." Jorge had already been working with ideas for a team blog and we thought it would be awesome to role it out with a team breakfast around the topic of "inspiration." Jorge Madrigal, Nick Marcotte, and myself planned and executed the entire event. The morning turned out to be a huge success and a great team bonding event. This was just the beginning, we hope to lead various other events for the team including design competitions, after-hours workshops, lunches, and etc. I am so excited to be a part of this new creative venture at our company and eager to see what is in store for the future.

A few weeks ago I took a design challenge/test to create an ad for SPIbelt®. This was an exciting opportunity for me because it combined my passion for running with my love for design.

Below is the process I executed to create a logo for a small startup electrical company based in Wausau, WI. You can see everything from my exploration in my sketchbook to tweaks made in Illustrator and then the final logo shown on a business card. Enjoy!

2nd Place...design in an hour

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to participate in the Wix.com and Vitamin T ReBrand Competition. We had one hour to create a logo and make a Wix website for a local Austin small business that was not reveled until right before the competition began. Fortunately I got to be on a team with my badass coworkers from BancVue and a friend. Once teams were formed we had twenty minutes of brainstorming and then one hour to complete the task. Amanda and Sarah took on the branding and logo as Jorge and I worked on the website. Our team ended up with second place and had a ton of fun along the way! What a great opportunity this was for all involved.

I completed the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio half marathon this past weekend. 3 month to go until I attempt my first marathon, the Austin Marathon!

Recent Travel - Colorado

The Early Hours

A few weeks ago I made running in the morning a habit in order to survive the hot days of summer in Texas. I would typically be in the middle of my run when the sun started peaking out and unfortunately without a camera on hand. I knew the only way I could capture the sunrise was to wake up early on a non running day. So, a couple Fridays ago I woke up early, ventured out with my camera, and waited until the sun decided to wakeup. I could have not been more inspired to spend the morning out by the lake, watching the sun rays and color change of the morning sky than sleeping in a few extra minutes.
